Primary Treatment Approaches

If you like thinking through problems in a systematic way and setting clear goals, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) might be a good fit.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach designed to help you increase your sense of purpose and direction, while learning to accept and even embrace painful thoughts and feelings.

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) has roots in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and affective neuroscience. In AEDP, the focus is learning to process difficult feelings and experiences in the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship. If you feel alone in dealing with painful emotions, AEDP might be an effective approach.

If you are trying to make changes but finding it hard to get started or keep momentum, Motivational Interviewing (MI) might be an important part of your treatment. This approach is often used to work on health behaviors like weight loss, smoking cessation, and substance use, but MI can also promote behavior change in academic, occupational, and social spheres.

Motivational Interviewing

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment rather than rehashing the past and worrying about the future. Practicing mindfulness can reduce stress, enhance performance, improve physical health, and increase self-compassion.

Psychotherapy Sessions:

Sessions are generally 45-50 minutes in length and scheduled weekly, although other arrangements are sometimes made based on your individual needs.

Rates & Insurance:

My rates are available upon request. I do not participate on insurance panels and will be considered an “out of network” provider by insurance plans. However, most insurance plans do reimburse for out of network providers, and I will provide you with all necessary documentation to submit for reimbursement.

When speaking with your insurance carrier, you may wish to ask the following questions:

  • Does my plan include mental health benefits?

  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?

  • How much does my plan cover for out-of-network providers?

  • What is the coverage amount for therapy sessions?
